The useful starting point

Start with the Make intake workshop. It offers a bounded way to practice the decisions behind an automation: fields, ownership, exceptions, and evidence.

This briefing covers October 26–November 2, 2026. The exercises are proposed uses of documented capabilities; they are not claims of tested customer implementations.

1. Make Maia: review the plan before building

Make’s October 30 update makes plan approval a useful starting point for an intake workflow. It also adds persistent preferences, image context, and help interpreting run errors. Make says the updates are available to Maia users: public beta on paid plans, with a 30-day trial starting at signup on Free.

Who benefits: marketers, designers, and consultants with repeated inquiries. Finished deliverable: one accurate internal review record, with missing information and ownership visible.

Teaching choice: hands-on workshop. Learners need to decide what the process should do and inspect actual sample outputs. Use the free 60-minute intake workshop and its five fictional cases. Review connection and usage costs for the chosen setup.

2. n8n 3.0: prepare the upgrade decision

The October 27 announcement released a beta; stable release is planned for early December. Breaking changes make readiness the immediate task. Inventory the outcomes the team relies on, review the Migration Report with an administrator, and agree testing and recovery responsibilities before production changes.

Who benefits: existing n8n teams and their consultants. Finished deliverable: a prioritized readiness pack for a critical workflow.

Teaching choice: a focused working session when real dependencies require it. Hosting, ownership, recovery, and business acceptance need decisions specific to the installation. Use the readiness guide and worksheet; bring the relevant findings to the existing AI Teachers session process. Scope the work first. This is not a promise to complete a production migration in one session.

3. ChatGPT and iCloud: prepare a source-checked brief

OpenAI’s October 27 release notes announce Mail and Calendar plugins across ChatGPT plans on web, desktop, and iOS. Connecting the correct accounts makes a client-preparation exercise possible; source review still determines whether the brief is reliable.

Who benefits: consultants and small teams using iCloud. Finished deliverable: a one-page brief that separates confirmed commitments, open questions, and proposed agenda items.

Teaching choice: short practical tutorial. The bounded task teaches account selection, source checks, and date conflicts. Follow the iCloud client-brief tutorial. The connection requires the appropriate provider authorization and account setup.

Brief reliability notes: Claude and Zapier

Claude Code v2.1.314, October 30: a new setting restricts Write, Edit, and NotebookEdit to working directories across permission modes. This is not a blanket restriction on every tool or shell command. Headless startup failure now returns an error instead of a false successful exit. The same release notes describe Cowork cloud PDF fetching reporting unread text beyond its limit instead of silently omitting it. Add these checks to existing workflow reviews; a separate launch workshop is not justified.

Zapier, October 28 roundup: documented fixes include Facebook Lead Ads errors and HubSpot contact-finding or creation issues. The post covers changes across October and does not establish a separate release date for each fix. If affected, retest a representative lead through to its destination and inspect duplicates and ownership. This merits a maintenance note, not a new course.

Teach next: one reviewed client intake

Start with the Make workshop: define the handoff; map fields and exceptions; review the plan; build with fictional records; inspect five outcomes; save the operating note and decide whether a live pilot is ready. The learning goal is to explain and verify the process, not simply produce a scenario.
